Spreading warmth, one family at a time
In the winter of 2020, PakTree extended its mission beyond reforestation to support vulnerable communities facing harsh weather conditions. A social media appeal for clothing and monetary donations helped raise PKR 40,000, enabling the team to reach over 7 families with winter essentials, warmth, and shelter support.
Contribution 1: Bedding for a Vulnerable Family
In collaboration with the Nadia Khanum Foundation, the team connected with a widow and her divorced daughter in urgent need of winter bedding. The funds helped provide blankets and mattresses to ensure comfort and warmth during the cold nights.
Identities of those supported are never disclosed, in line with our commitment to dignity and privacy.
Contribution 2: Constructing a Door for Protection
Due to extreme weather conditions, direct exposure to cold posed serious health risks for a family living in a home shielded only by curtains. A portion of the funds supported the construction of a secure door, offering the family improved protection and peace of mind.
Day 1: Street Distribution
Donated clothes were distributed among individuals living without permanent shelter, providing much-needed protection from the cold.
Day 2: Visit to Shahdra
The team visited rural areas of Shahdra, where communities are severely affected by poverty and drug abuse. Many women encountered were widowed or married to individuals suffering from addiction, and were the sole earners in their households.
Support provided included:
- Packets of new clothing
- Groceries and essential medicines
- Cash assistance for urgent needs
These women are the quiet strength of the nation — providing, surviving, and standing tall for their children.
Shahdra remains deeply impacted by drug trafficking, inadequate healthcare, and limited access to basic resources. The initiative, though modest in scale, aimed to bring relief to families often overlooked and underserved.
This drive marks the beginning of a broader campaign to support families during extreme winter conditions. With continued collective effort, future phases will expand to more locations and provide aid to a larger number of individuals.
Further contributions and collaborations are welcome to help grow the scale and reach of this initiative. For partnership or donation inquiries, please contact us.
